  • Richmond Kickers’ legend Matthew Delicâte is retiring. He made 249 appearances in 10 seasons in Richmond and scored 113 goals. He returned to the field last year after a cancer scare on August 27. With his 10 seasons in Richmond and another three in Rochester, Delicâte is one of the all-time greats in USL history.

  • On Friday, U.S. women’s national team midfielder Morgan Brian had her number retired at Frederica Academy in St. Simons, GA.

  • Kevin Johnson was named the new coach of the Wilmington Hammerheads, who will be competing in the PDL in 2017. They also announced that they will be playing at UNC-Wilmington’s soccer stadium.
  • The Carolina Challenge Cup returns to Charleston next weekend as the Columbus Crew, Seattle Sounders, and Atlanta United will come to town. Read up on the history of the event and its importance to the hometown Battery.
