Atlanta United update, Day 3

What a day in the world of Atlanta United. We’ll do our best to get you caught up on the day that was.

The day opened with a bit of news:

Anton Walkes joins United on a six-month loan from Tottenham. The 19-year-old can play anywhere on the backline or in defensive midfield. He featured for Spurs’ first team over the summer in the International Champions Cup and once in the EFL Cup this season. He has mostly played for the club’s reserve team this year.

While the team did not do two-a-days on the field, they did have a special morning session:

After Middlesbrough’s announcement yesterday, it was only a matter of time before Brad Guzan’s arrival was officially announced by the club. Guzan commented on his Twitter:

The Miguelito y Tito show continues, these guys have really seemed to hit it off:

Before the club could officially announce it, Yamil Asad leaked that a new teammate was in camp:

The team officially announced Leandro Gonzalez Pirez’s acquisition shortly after. He was acquired using Targeted Allocation Money and the 24-year-old will likely push for a starting spot on the backline.

After the flurry of activity, the team did hit the field for training this afternoon in their only field session of the day:

Tomorrow, the team trains in the morning at 10:00 a.m. at the IMG Academy.
