Two-a-days were on the schedule again today for Atlanta United during preseason training in Bradenton, Florida at the IMG Academy. The team hit the field at 10:00 a.m. for their first session.
Two rumored acquisitions had news break about them during the day. Estudiantes de la Plata announced this morning that they had transferred Leandro Gonzalez Pirez to Atlanta. This follows reports of him on his way to Atlanta last night. Rumored figures for the transfer have ranged from $1.5 to $2 million, but he is not expected to take up a Designated Player slot. Some reports have speculated that he could be on a loan with an option to buy sort of deal for 2017.
Another club announced that a player was on his way to Atlanta later in the day. Middlesbrough told the world that Brad Guzan would be joining United after the Premiership season ends. He would be able to officially join the club on July 10, the opening date of the summer transfer window. He is expected to be signed using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM), which means his salary would be roughly between $500K-$1 million, but he would not count as a Designated Player.
The squad returned to the field at 4:30 p.m. for their second session of the day.
Tomorrow, the team will only train once. They will hit the field at 3:30 p.m.
